Here are some photos that I did not use for the project, and a bit of "behind the scenes" from the trip:
* For Hebrew, visit this link *
The city of Qiryat Gat was the first I pictured on the very first day of the road-trip. It was interesting to discover that while the city doesn't have a very remarkable "welcome" sign, the "good-bye" sign is actually quite impressive... go figure!
Another view of the Bedouin city of Rahat.
First stop on the way to Eilat, in Mitzpe Ramon, a city overlooking the Ramon Crater. Coffee for me, petrol for Vinnie.
A quick picture outside of Yotvata, a famous kibbutz and a rest stop about half an hour from Eilat.
Resting in the shade in Eilat. Ice-cream for me, more petrol for Vinnie.
Posing in Rosh Ha'ayin/
Vinnie overlooking the Sorek stream (I think...), near Hod HaSharon.
Turning heads in Lod.
A nice sign welcoming visitors to Rehovot.
When I just started the trip, I wasn't sure whether I would include Modiin Illit in the project, being outside the Green Line. So I decided to take a photo of Qiryat Yam, the number 41 city in Israel by size, just in case. This was the only sign I found, after close to an hour of wondering all over the city...
This could have been the photo of Nahariya, if it wasn't so poorly maintained!
Vinnie overlooking the Qineret (See of Galilee) just outside of Tiberius. Shame for the poor visibility that day...
I drove around Ashdod for about an hour before I found the sign that appears in the Guide. Before that, I considered using this monument...
...And even the sign welcoming visitors to the Ashdod harbor.
And last, but not least, a small story behind the photo of Tel Aviv. I took the photos of this city on the last day of the project. At first, there were no signs anywhere, so I called the PR department of the city and asked them for the location of the signs, to which question I got the ridiculous reply that "Tel Aviv doesn't have signs, since everyone knows it is Tel Aviv". I started considering picturing Vinnie on Azrieli towers or some other location, when I was informed - two days before the final day, about this new sign. Apparently Tel Aviv DOES need one! Or maybe this was done by the mayor to honor Vinnie? ;-)
Thanks again to anyone who commented on the project in the Guest book and via e-mail. You're great and I appreciate all the compliments!
